Thank you for your interest in the role of a Non-Executive Director at our Trust. Our c7,000 staff treat over 350,000 patients each year.

We have undertaken pioneering work in support of the Grenfell community following the devastating fire. We have recently opened specialist units for adolescents (13-18) with mental health problems and with learning difficulties. We opened the first problem gambling clinic. Our Chief Executive, Claire Murdoch CBE, is the national lead for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism. We are rated overall Good by the CQC with Outstanding for Caring.

We now have a vacancy for a Non Executive Director. We are looking for candidates with a commercial and/or financial background, preferable with some experience in estates or facilities management.

You will be committed to public service and the values of our Trust and our Board. You will be able to devote 3 days per month to Trust activities. These include Board and committee meetings, Council of Governor meetings and visits to services (when the Coronovirus restrictions ease).

The coronavirus pandemic has changed many things for the NHS, and for our Trust, so you will be joining us at a time when we must remodel our service provision.  Some interest and experience of managing organisations in times of transition would thus be helpful.

As a Trust, we are committed to Diversity and Inclusion. We are the highest-rated NHS Trust in the Stonewall Top 100 employers. We have active networks for our BAME, Female, LGBT, Disabled, Carers and Lived Experience of Mental Health Issues Stigma Transformation staff. We would particularly welcome applications from female and BAME candidates.

The role of NED at CNWL offers you the opportunity to play an important role in shaping the future direction of the CNWL and support our mission to ensure that every patient’s experience is the best it can be.

We’ve engaged Cadence Partners to support us in this appointment, so for a more in-depth conversation about the roles or any issue that isn’t covered on this candidate microsite, please contact Shani Newbold or Andrei Racasan at Cadence Partners on +44 20 7947 4960 or email

I am also available for informal discussions with prospective candidates which can be arranged via the team at Cadence Partners.

I look forward to talking to you.
